Sagada is one of those amazing places in the Philippines where different adventures are packed in close proximity to each other. For instance, you can explore a mysterious cave in the morning and climb a verdant mountain in the afternoon. After a short hike or ride from the town proper, you find yourself jumping off gorgeous waterfalls. Or you can simply go around town and indulge in a gastronomic adventure, with different specialty restaurants literally just a stone’s throw away.
Looking at pictures of Filipino adventurers and travelers who visited or even lived the United States, European countries, New Zealand, Australia, and more, we feel elated for them. Think about it; not everyone is given the opportunity to step on foreign soil. Just like any other Filipino, seeing those photos sometimes makes us wish that we were in their shoes so that we can feel cool air and walk under the shade of pines. We want to visit countries where coconut trees are hardy present, where icy rivers flow, and where green mountains reign. We want to visit lands dotted with Lincoln log cabins and fireplaces.
We feel deeply honored and grateful every time we enter a spectacular cave. When we do, we feel as if we are given a chance to go back thousands of years to a place’s past. We feel lucky and privileged to see and experience secret ecosystems and hidden natural wonders that have existed long before humans roamed the earth. And in the impenetrable darkness and silence, we rediscover solace, peace, and humility buried deep in the chaos of our hearts.
Human beings are incredibly talented creatures. Within each of us is an immense cache of imagination, creativity, determination, and talent. When humans make use of their ingenuity and skill, they create indescribably astounding wonders that captivate the imagination and awe of the world. And as Filipinos, we are proud and honored to have one of those wonders—the mighty and internationally recognized Banaue Rice Terraces.
It was a year of discovering new destinations and exploring pristine secrets. It was a year of cool challenges and life-changing lessons. And, of course, it was a year of tender love, memorable experiences, fun and laughter, and lasting friendships.

You’re probably familiar with the famous Filipino traits of genuine warmth and exemplary hospitality, right? Well, the Cebu rock climbing community also exemplifies those traits. Our humble little group is made up of amazingly cool and friendly bunch of gals and guys who want nothing more than to have fun, laughter, and excitement that are matched only by the intensity of the sport.
