With great food comes great creativity. We are naturally inclined to lick our lips and let our tummies grumble when we see beautifully presented delicious dishes arrayed before us. During our trip to Jagna, Bohol, we stopped by a quaint bistro called 10:31 by Chef M in a quiet corner of Tagbilaran City. There, we were able to truly immerse and marvel in the impressive genius of local Boholano culinary artists.
Mountains have their own immortal tales. While many of these stories fade in the mists of obscurity, some leave identifying marks—everlasting scars in time—in their lofty slopes. The saga may be one of triumph, inspiration, mystery, or tragedy. An example of such story surrounds Mt. Manunggal in Balamban for it has a great significance in Philippine history.
The mountains of Cebu are not remarkably tall. In fact, the highest pinnacles barely punch through the 1,000-meter mark by a mere few meters. But that doesn’t mean they are less magnificent than other peaks in the country. Our mountains are absolutely fascinating. They radiate their own unique magic, and they have their own beautiful stories to tell. Thus, one overcast weekend, we went out and listened to the tales of rocky Mt. Mauyog in Balamban, Cebu.
Breathe. Relax. Invigorate. These three words remind us that living life is more than just studying, working, and bearing the weight of our personal world on our shoulders. Indeed, we ensure that we revitalize ourselves after a hard week’s work and study. We do this through traveling and engaging in outdoor activities. However, little did we know that this year’s summer, one of our best relaxation moments also turned out to be a surprise accomplishment of one of our fondest wishes.
It is a privilege to see something rare in Mother Nature. That treasure, which only a select few has laid eyes on, makes us realize that there are so many things in this world that we simply don’t understand. For us, that experience is something humbling, something spiritual. Under the blue waters of Jagna in Bohol, a seldom seen spectral wonder touched our souls.
There’s something fresh and captivating about Jagna, Bohol. The sweet calamay, the stunning seascape, the lush slopes, the lively festivals, the friendly people—all of these and more create a symphony of richness, beauty, and excitement. This makes Jagna an interesting town that is truly worth visiting.
Filipinos celebrate festivities with utmost vigor. We party like there’s no tomorrow. We honor and revel in our culture to the highest level of pride. And once again, our adoration for revelry and respect of culture were joyously celebrated during the 3rd Jagna Calamay Festival.
