Mainit Mabugnaw National Park: A Superbly Sculpted Gateway to Carcar’s Underworld

Going inside a cave emanates a feeling of enchantment and wonder. As you go deeper into an underground cathedral, you cannot help but feel that you are entering an unknown, magical world. In Cebu, we have lots of grandiose caves that are just waiting to be discovered. One of these geological treasures is located in Guadalupe just a few kilometers off the historic city of Carcar.

San Vicente Marine Sanctuary: A Developing Success in Marine Conservation

Have you ever observed something in progress? While evidence of man-made progress is generally observable, Mother Nature takes a rather slow, gradual, and unobtrusive path. She takes a lot of time—sometimes counted in tens, hundreds, or thousands of years—to heal, improve, or change the environs of a place. Seeing Mother Nature at work, even in her subtlest, is a wondrous and captivating experience. We saw evidence of that progress in San Vicente Marine Sanctuary in Olango Island across Mactan in Cebu, Philippines.

Pico de Loro: An Unusual and Captivating Beacon in Cavite

Mother Nature has a great way of guiding those who wish to explore her land or ply her vast seas. She places unusual geological features for us to use as landmarks. Nature’s way has become so effective that even with today’s GPS and digital-map technology, people still rely on sighting natural landmarks to navigate their way around. Our last stop in our Batangas-Cavite sojourn was Pico de Loro, one of the most unusual and beautiful landmarks in the province of Cavite in the northern island of the Philippines.

Taal Volcano: A Small but Terrible Natural Wonder

In our Social Studies, Science, and Philippine History classes during our elementary school years, our teachers usually ask us to enumerate some natural geological wonders of the Philippines. One of the wonders that most often come up is beautiful Taal Volcano in Batangas. For us, seeing a picture of a small volcano in the middle of a lake was a sight that could induce a huge wow from the class.
